The keyword density checker tool allows you to extract the total number of keywords found in the body of a webpage and calculate their frequency and occurrence. It calculates keyword density by analyzing one-word phrase combinations, two-word combinations, and three-word combinations. This tool can be useful in various scenarios:
Competitor keyword research: Extract the most frequently used keywords and keyword phrases from the URLs of top-performing competitors.
Checking for over-optimization: Determine if your webpage is over-optimized and potentially at risk of being penalized by search engines like Google, particularly due to keyword stuffing or low-quality content.
Getting a quick overview of keyword usage: Obtain a summary of keyword usage for a specific webpage.
Keyword density, while still considered a factor by search engines, plays a relatively small role in page ranking. It is more important to incorporate your focus keyword(s) into essential on-page elements such as the title tag, meta description, heading tags (H1), body content, alt tags, and internal links. Off-page factors like backlinks and anchor text also significantly influence indexing and ranking.
Determining the best or ideal keyword density is subjective and varies depending on the topic being discussed. Some topics benefit from longer, more comprehensive content with a variety of related keywords and synonyms. In contrast, others require concise content with a higher repetition of the same keywords. The key is to write naturally for human users rather than focusing solely on search engine algorithms and crawlers.
The keyword density checker tool includes certain filters to provide a useful keyword usage report:
Title Tag, Meta Description, and Meta Keyword tags are removed from the keyword statistics.
Comments sections, often identified by the Id #comments (common in WordPress themes), are excluded.
English stop-words, which are commonly used but do not carry significant semantic value, are also eliminated.
Keyword density is calculated by dividing the number of times a keyword appears in the content by the total word count and expressing it as a percentage. It serves as an indicator of the main focus keywords and phrases for a webpage.
